The quality of Ericeira’s fresh fish and seafood is clear to see right from daybreak, in the stalls at the market of this fishing village, where there are still vendors announcing their products with the happiness and colour of earlier times. Any time is a good time to visit the ground floor of the Ericeira Market, but the most colourful day is definitely Good Friday, when it fills up with local “parishioners” in search of the freshest mussels and the best fish fillets for the caldeirada or fish stew typically made at that time.
On the floor above the fish market, it is still possible to find the traditional flower, fruit and vegetable stalls, bursting with products from the region and, on the last floor, several types of handicrafts made in the municipality.
