Lemon

We are the largest suppliers of lemon in Portugal, as a result of which for those who pass through Mafra Municipality, it is easy to come across lemon farms, with yellow or green lemons, depending on the season. 

Mafra lemons have an unmatched quality, which is appreciated by consumers in a large part of the European continent, Africa and South America. But they can also be bought locally, whether in large supermarkets or in traditional stores.

In the area of Sobreiro-Achada, the lemon is one of the most prolific agricultural products, its cultivation having been introduced in the 1950s. The most conclusive evidence of the importance of this crop for the local community is the organisation, generally every year, of the Lemon Parade, in August, in Sobreiro.
